Instructional Practice in Education (Childcare)
Prerequisite: Annual Criminal Background Check
This two hour course is a field-based/internship combined with classroom instruction designed to give students the opportunity to explore careers in teaching and occupations working directly with children and adolescents. Students experience the guidance and development of children physically, socially, emotionally, and intellectually. Six hours per week are in the classroom and four hours per week at the internship site, including the educational preschool located on campus. Internship experience requires students to travel independently to elementary schools, preschools, and middle schools, to plan and carry through activities while observing and recording development. This course offers training to persons interested in professions related to human development, psychology, medicine, education, and childcare. Students enrolled in this course must provide their own transportation.
